SIDEWALKS

We believe that a sidewalk isn’t just for walking on. It can be a canvas for the expression of art and place.

Stretches of our existing sidewalks are unattractive – uneven, cracked, pitted, a mishmash of various materials, dirty, and in some locations unsafe.

Our ongoing sidewalk replacement program aims to not only produce a safe, consistent surface, but to incorporate a little bit of Cambria’s uniqueness. To that end, our design calls for a medallion in each new section illustrating a Cambria icon.

We replaced a section of sidewalk outside Soto’s True Earth Market in Cambria’s East Village in 2016, thanks to a $25,000 grant from SLO County. The medallion, designed by Cambria artist Phil Hauser, features a Cambria Monterey pine.

We hope to replace additional damaged sections as funds become available.
